The Alaska Region of the Forest Service has a requirement for the charter of a boat with a flight deck capable of supporting a Bell Long Ranger helicopter or equivalent to facilitate the grid inventory of the Tongass and Chugach National Forests and adjacent State and Private areas around the south end of Kodiak Island, Alaska. The boat must be capable of housing and feeding 12 people and carrying personal gear and equipment needed for the inventory effort. The boat must be able to carry at least 2,500 gallons of jet fuel internally for helicopter use. The fuel system must be equipped with a continuous centrifuge filtering device. An FAA fully approved jet fuel filtering system must be installed for filtering fuel as it is pumped into the helicopter. The boat must have a large Danforth type anchor capable of holding the boat at anchorage in winds and storms likely to be encountered in the Kodiak area. The boat must be fully licensed as required by law and shall have currently passed all U.S. Coast Guard requirements for safety and seaworthiness. It is anticipated the contract period will be from approximately August 21 through approximately September 5, 2000.
