As a result of questions received from offerors, PTO is providing the following answers: 1) QUESTION: What is the average size of the data which is receiving 98% of the requests? (2 Is data all the same, (are 98% of the requests made for access to the starting page at which queries are begun)? ANSWER: 1) The PTO system uses the journaled file system (jfs), which varies the block size. Therefore, there is not a constant block size in PTO's environment. I/O blocks of 8Kbytes and larger occur. The vendor should state their assumptions about the block size(s) used to calculate their performance specifications. PTO measures service time using the HP MeasureWare tool. The definition is service time = utilization divided by the number of physical I/O per second.
