The Department of Veterans Affairs, John D. Dingell Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan is searching for an Architect/Engineer(A/E) firm to prepare preliminary drawings, construction drawings, bid package documents and construction period services for a two phase construction project. Work includes, but is not limited to the following: Phase I -- Construction of an approximate 45,000 gross square foot open space on the seventh floor of the existing structure into a full blown pshychiatric inpatient/outpatient treatment wing. Phase II -- Total Demolition and gutting of approximately 35,000 gross square feet of the existing psychiatric treatment area on the third floor of the administrative building and remodeling into general light duty office space for use by Veterans Benefit Administration. Construction is estimated to be between $1 million and $4 million. The A/E should have Michigan State licensed Professional Engineers from all major disciplines on staff in addition to expert construction cost estimators. The A/E should have experience dealing with interstitial building spaces in modern construction.
