U -- VETERANS AFFAIRS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM SOL 777-9-00 DUE 122399 POC Karen Lebo (440)526-3030 X7444 The Employee Education System, Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Cleveland, Ohio proposes to enter into a non-competitive commercial item contract with the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Center for Health Service Continuing Education, 519 Web Building-1530 3rd Avenue, Birmingham, AL 35294-3361, an affiliated university with Department of Veteran Affairs. The University of Alabama will provide all necessary materials and services to conduct a one-year continuing education course for mid-level managers which has been developed by the University of Alabama to specifically meet the needs of the Employee Eduation System within the Department of Veteran Affairs. The education program is delivered by Professors of Healthcare Administration and offer graduate credit hours for participants. The curriculum must include an action learning project, planned in conjunction with the home facility so participants can apply learning to real work immediately. The University of Alabama faculty has provided this program for the Department of Veteran Affairs since it's inception, updating annually according to the latest developments in health care and current realities in the VAMC. Due to the unique, complex nature of this procurement there is a reasonable basis to conclude that the materials and services required are only available from this source who is affiliated with the Department of Veteran Affairs.
