Pursuant to prior AIR-Synopsis No. 20193-99, posted to the CBDNet on 13 September 1999, the Naval Air Systems Command plans on releasing the formal request for proposal (RFP), N00019-00-R-0130, for the WDU-17/B Warhead Assembly and Container for the Sidewinder AIM-9M Missile on or around 15 December 1999. The WDU-17/B Warhead Assembly is approximately 15 inches long, 5 inches in diameter, and consists of a PBXN-3 explosive main charge, booster plates, transfer tube, and titanium rods encapsulated on a machined aluminum structural element. The technical data package for the Warhead Assembly is CLASSIFIED CONFIDENTIAL. Refer to the RFP for specific proposal submission instructions.
