Executing Unit of the Emergency Reconstruction of Roads and Bridges
Activity (RECAP) of the Honduran Social Investment Fund (FHIS), with
financial assistance from the United States Agency for International
Development Mission in Honduras, invites firms from the United States
and Honduras who are specialized in the design, fabrication and
erection of prefabricated drainage structures (for example; bridges,
box culverts, arch culverts) to submit proposals for the design,
fabrication and erection of drainage structures on the secondary and
tertiary road network that were damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Mitch
in October 1998. The majority of the prefabricated drainage structures
contemplated will have cross sectional flow areas that vary in size
between 4 and 45.00 square meters and include both one and two lane
road widths. All of the structures will be located in the Departments
of Colon, Atlantida, Yoro, Choluteca, Valle and municipalities of
Juticalpa, San Fernando de Becerra, Patuca, Santa Maria del Real and
Catacamas in the Department of Olancho. The total amount of contracts
for prefabricated structures could reach US$5 millon and which will be
distributed between one or more contracts with durations of one year
from the date of signing the contract(s). The contracts will specify a
minimum quantity of design, fabrication and erection works that will
be requested through work orders to the contractor. RECAP intends to
evaluate the cost effectiveness and appropriateness of different types
of prefabricated structures erected in the field. In order to do this,
RECAP will issue Work Orders for a minimum of two structures from each
of the selected suppliers of prefabricated structures. The decision to
issue new Work Orders will be based on the results of the initial field
installations. Financing for this activity originates from the United
States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Government
of Honduras. All contracting processes under the RECAP Activity will
conform to the GOH/USAID Host Country Contracting Procedures. USAID
host country contracting and Government of Honduras contracting
procedures. All RECAP activity reports and communications between
contractors, consultants and GOH/FHIS will be in Spanish. The
solicitation documents are only available in Spanish and proposals are
to be submitted in Spanish. The completed tender documents must be
received no later than 10:00 A.M., January 14, 2000 at the following
