301-594-7731 The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National
Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a
requirement to purchase UniGEM V Service(human) Mouse GEM I Service and
GEMTools Software from Genome Systems Inc., 3174 Porter Drive, Pala
Alto, CA 94304. The following specifications shall be included in the
laboratory services. Data should be formatted for GEMTools software
analysis unless a written request for an alternative text format is
provided to Incyte prior to the hybridization. Incyte control elements
on each array will be used to determine the validity of each assay.
Data should be provided within 20 working days from receipt of 2
samples mRNA at Incyte, or 30 working days for 2 total RNA samples. The
government will provide two RNA samples to compare the level of gene
expression in two biological samples. The vendor will provide labeling,
hybridization and data analysis of the samples hybridized. The Array
services will use high density arrays using up to 10,000 elementswith
two color hybridization technology. The data, including a comparison of
the level of gene expressions in both samples, will be provided as web
based data. The Institute intends to purchase this service by other
than full and open competition from Genome Systems Inc. To the best of
the Governments knowledge they are the sole manufacturer and
distributor of this service. This notice of intent is not a request for
competitive proposals, however, all responses received before the
closing date of this announcement will be considered by the Government.
A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed
acquisition is based upon responses to this notice and is solely within
the discretion of the Government. Information received will be
considered solely within the discretion of the Government. It is
anticipated that Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-00-517 will be
available fifteen (15) days after the publication date of this
synopsis. Receipt of quotations will be due ten (10) days after the
publication date of this synopsis. Receipt of award date is January 12,
2000. Request for copies of the RFQ must be in writing to the National
Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, 6705
Rockledge Drive, Building One, Room 8048, Bethesda, Maryland 20817-7973
