Maintenance Dredging: The maintenance dredging work to be performed under this contract consists of the removal of shoals to restore the authorized navigation channels width and depth on the Lower Tombigbee River from miles 45 to 213 at Demopolis Lock, or the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway (BW& T) from Demopolis Lock to mile 338 at Oliver Lock and Dam, or on the Alabama River from miles 0.0 to 236.2 at Robert F. Henry Lock and Dam, or on the Tenn-Tom Waterway from the junction with the Black Warrior River at mile 217 to Mississippi Highway 325 Bridge at mile 443.4. The intended principal work site is the Alabama River System; however, the Contractor may also be required to work on any of the other navigation systems listed above. Dredge Plant: The work to be performed under this contract consists of furnishing a hydraulic cutterhead pipeline dredge with pump discharge of 20-inch diameter (with brake horsepower of not less than 2100 HP), 22-inch diameter (with brake horsepower of not less than 2400 HP), or 24-inch diameter (with brake horsepower of not less than 2400 HP). The dredge will be complete with all necessary materials, supplies, (including fuel, power, and water) labor, and transportation for maintenance dredging operations as specified in the above paragraph. Bid documents are available on or about 3 January 2000. Estimated cost of work is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Unrestricted. All responsible sources may submit a bid, which shall be considered. Bidders, subcontractors and Dodge/Plan Rooms are required to self-register their firm or office on the Internet to receive one CD-ROM. Actual solicitation amendments will be issued either by fax, 3.5" diskette or CD-ROM. The plans and specifications will be issued on Compact Disc (CD-ROM) only and will be provided free of charge. Plans and specifications will not be provided in a printed paper format; however, the Government reserves the right to revert to paper medium when it is determined to be in the Government's best interest. All bid forms, bid bonds, and other normal documents required for the bid submittal, including amendments to the bid submittal, shall be in paper medium. Electronic medium for the bid submittal documents will not be allowed. Critical Path Method (Network Analysis System) is not required. For this job, a small business is defined as having average annual receipts of lessthan $13,500,000 for the past three years. This solicitation includes bid options, which may not be awarded.
