The Naval Air Systems Command intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, the original manufacturer of the H-53E helicopter, for technical services to address the dynamic fatigue characteristics of the H-53E (S-80M) main rotor hub upper plate. The services will require a detailed analysis of a proposed modification to the upper hub plate. The requirement will demand an active and detailed technical familiarity of the H-53E weapons' system. In addition to technical familiarity, the ability to fabricate a main-rotor upper hub plate to modified specifications is necessary. The schedule for this effort is from March 2000 to October 2000.
