40 -- WIRE ROPE, SOCKET SOL N00604-00-Q-A001 DUE 012100 POC Gail Caban, Purchasing Agent, (808)473-7528, Joseph Saunders, Contracting Officer, (808)473-7509 The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center, Pearl Harbor, HI intends to negotiate a contract for Item 0001: Wire rope, QTY: 2,260 ft.,Type: I, Class: 3, (Boom Hoist) with certification. Item 0002: Wire rope, QTY: 1,250 ft., Type: I, Class: 3, (Main Hoist Port) with certification. Item 0003: Wire rope, QTY: 1,250 ft., Type: I, Class: 3, (Main Hoist STBD.) with certification. Wire rope shall be IAW FEDSPEC RR-W-410. Type: I, Class: 3, Construction: as available, Size: 1-1/2", Material: XIPS, Core: IWRC, LAY: RRL, Nominal Breaking Strength (lb.): 216,000, Minimum acceptable breaking strength (lb.): 210,000. Wire rope shall be preformed and of one continuous length. Wire rope shall be adequately seized at both ends and appropriately attached to the reel. Wire rope and its core shall be thoroughly coated with a lubricant with additives to provide lubricating qualities and corrosion protection during shipping, storage, handling, and the initial period of service and suitable base for subsequent field lubrications. The lubricant shall be free from substances injurious to steel wires and fiber cores. The supplier may use his standard lubricant when it meets these requirements. MANUFACTURER'S WRITTEN DOCUMENTATION: As a minimum, the manufacturer shall provide written documentation stating the following (all documentation must be traceable to each other): SIZE (diameter in inches), CLASS, MATERIAL, LENGTH (feet), CORE, LAY, ACTUAL BREAKING STRENGTH (certification of breaking strength proven by the manufacturer's test), SHIPPING OR MASTER REEL NUMBER. Shipping Reel Marking: The required marking in conjunction with the manufacturer's written documentation provides the traceability between the wire rope and manufacturer's documents. As minimum, each shipping reel shall be marked as follows: SHIPPING OR MASTER REEL NUMBER. Item 0004: Socket, spelter, open, for 1-1/2" diameter wire rope, forged steel, FEDSPEC RR-S-550D, Type A. Socket shall be permanently marked with the manufacturer's name or trademark and the size of the socket. Crobsy model, S-416, Crosby stock no.: 1039806 (or equal). The manufacturer shall perform 100% magnetic particle (MT) inspection of the sockets and socket pins. MT inspection shall be performed IAW NAVSEA Technical Publication T9074-AS-GIB-010/271. MT inspection acceptance criteria shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-2035 for forgings. Vendor or manufacturer shall provide: Written documentation identifying the forging lot number that the sockets were taken from. Written certification identifying the forging lot number that the sockets were taken from. Written certification documenting the satisfactory performance of the 100% magnetic particle (MT) inspection of the sockets and socket pins. The certification document shall verify that the MT was performed IAW with NAVSEA Tech Pub. T9074-AS-GIB-010/271 with MT inspection acceptance criteria IAW MIL-STD-2035 for forgings. Written certifications shall be traceable to the sockets by a unique number (or other unique marking) that marked on both the certification documents and on the sockets themselves. Traceability markings may be provided by attaching a temporary tag (e.g., a manila tag) to the sockets if the sockets are not permanently marked as such. All written or an authorized representative of the manufacturer. Failure of the manufacturer to provide all of the above written documentation will be cause for rejection. The Government reserves the right to re-perform magnetic particle inspections upon receipt and prior to acceptance. Delivery of items will be to Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, Pearl Harbor Hawaii, and FOB Destination. Delivery is 45-60 days ARO. SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL 15 DAYS AFTER PUBLICATION IN THE CBD. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which will be considered by the Agency.
