angela.williams@bep.treas.gov. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing
(BEP) is planning to purchase an ultra-violet (UV) curing system for
its 1989 Heidelberg 6 Color Model 102SP sheet-fed offset printing press
located at its Washington, D. C. facility. The optimal ultra-violet
(UV) curing system shall be commercially available, compatible with the
Heidelberg Speedmaster press, adhere to the specified requirements and
adapt to the requirements of a myriad of UV inks and substrates. The
successful offeror will provide all labor and materials to design and
retrofit the BEP_s Heidelberg press with an end-of-press and/or
interdeck ultra-violet (UV) curing system for UV coating/printing inks.
After the equipment is onsite and operational, the BEP will evaluate
system performance in accordance with the solicitation requirements.
Once the equipment adheres to each specified element, the BEP will
acknowledge acceptance of the equipment and the offeror will conduct
separate training sessions for BEP operators and maintenance personnel.
Note that the BEP will provide all utilities in accordance with the
requirements specified in the offeror_s proposal. Interested
businesses, which are capable of providing this equipment, can submit
information for the Government to determine said capability. Please
indicate whether your company is considered a large, small,
disadvantaged, or women-owned business. The Standard Industrial
Classification (SIC) code is 3559, Special Industry Equipment. The size
standard is less than 500 employees to be considered a small business.
The information requested shall be submitted to Angela Williams at the
above address or emailed to angela.williams@bep.treas.gov on or before
January 19, 2000. BEP has scheduled a site visit for all interested
offerors responding to this Request for Information for Monday, January
24, 2000 at 10:00 a. m. If you are interested in participating in the
site visit please provide your name and the company you represent along
with your response to this Request for Information. Additionally, BEP
is requesting interested companies to provide an oral presentation to
BEP representatives during the week of January 24, 2000 on the type of
U V Curing System the company can offer. After the issuance of a
solicitation and as a part of the technical evaluation, BEP
representatives will visit prospective offerors_ manufacturing
facilities to view the U V Curing systems in production. A draft
specification will be provided to industry for comments before the
issuance of the solicitation. Qualified businesses that respond to this
Request for Information will be provided a confirmation for the site
visit and oral presentations. PLEASE NOTE: THE BEP WILL BE CLOSED FROM
DECEMBER 24, 1999 THROUGH JANUARY 2, 2000 FOR ITS ANNUAL YEAR END
