The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate with only one source, Texas Engineering Experiment Station (TEES), Office of Sponsored Research, 332 Wisenbaker Engineering Research Center, College Station, TX 77843, to procure new experimental data on the pressure-volume-temperature relationships on a series of pure fluids and mixtures related to the natural gas industry. The fluids include hydrogen sulfide and mixtures containing hydrogen sulfide. The uncertainty of the resultant measurements of density will be better than 0.1%, and the measurements must extend from atmospheric pressure to 200 MPa with temperatures between 150K and 500K. The experimental method and apparatus must be suitably validated with primary measurements traceable to appropriate standards; measurements on multiple apparatus with overlapping ranges are required to serve as additional validation. Sample preparation is included in the procurement, and uncertainties in the mole fractions of the mixturecomponents will be within 0.0001. The facilities and personnel at TEES are the only possibilities for completing this project. It is necessary for these measurements to be performed by a single laboratory and staff, since sample preparation and analysis will be a major effort for these measurements, and it will not be feasible to deliver common samples for an experimental program of this magnitude. TEES also has three pieces of apparatus which are vital to the success of the project, they are: a "Wagner" densimeter, validated Burnett apparatus and an isochoric apparatus.
