The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division awarded Contract N00178-98-D-1045 on 14 August 1998 to provide for cell phone equipment and related services for a 5-year period of performance beginning 1 October 1998 and ending 30 September 2003. Usage under the contract has resulted in expenditure of contractual ceiling at a greater rate than initially anticipated. Consequently, NSWCDD intends to negotiate an interim sole source contract with Cellular One, 7855 Walker Drive, Suite 100, Greenbelt, Maryland 20770-3293 to provide for continued support through 30 September 2000 with an option for continued support through 30 September 2001. As the incumbent contractor, Cellular One is the sole contractor capable of providing continuity of services without major disruption, loss of functionality and/or features, degradation of services and significant overall cost impact to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division. Vendors who are interested in this procurement must indicate their interest by 8 January 2000. All responses from responsible sources will be considered. In addition to cell phone equipment and service plan costs, the evaluation shall consider the impact to switch services, including cost impact coupled with disruption to NSWCDD customers.
