COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF DECEMBER 27,1999 PSA#2503GSA, PBS, Property Development (5PC), 230 South Dearborn Street, Room
3516, Chicago, IL 60604-1696 Y -- SOURCES SOUGHT, CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW US BORDER STATION, SAULT
SAINTE MARIE, MICHIGAN. SOL NMI00027 DUE 011220 POC Jason Gerloff
(312)886-1542 PCN NMI00027. The General Services Administration (GSA)
announces an opportunity for experienced construction contractors to
express an interest in obtaining information for the new U. S. Border
Station to be built at the International Bridge, Sault Sainte Marie,
Michigan. The new "medium-size/right-side" border station of
approximately 45,000 square feet and parking on the 3.2 acre site to
serve the U. S. Customs Service, Immigration and Naturalization Service
(INS), U. S. Border Patrol, and the Department of Agriculture (PPQ)
(VS). Construction of the new border station, related site work and
demolition of the existing buildings would need to be phased and
coordinated in order to keep the border station open and operational on
a 24-hour, seven-day-per-week basis. In addition, construction work
must not impede the operations of the International Bridge Authority
Administration maintenance and toll collection facilities immediately
south of the border station. Offerors should have experience in
constructing new facilities/expanding existing facilities while
maintaining them in full operating, uninterrupted conditions. Offerors
should have experience in road and highway construction meeting the
requirements and specifications of the Michigan Department of
Transportation. As early as February of 2000 the construction services
may be solicited under Source Selection Procedures. A two-stage
selection process may be used to prequalify offerors based on such
factors as past experience, phasing experience, proposed key personnel,
and other measures of capabilities. Qualified offerors would then be
solicited for pricing proposals and evaluated based on best value to
the government. Please note that this is a SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE;
therefore, no solicitation is available at this time and no contract
award will be made as a result of this notice. Any information
submitted is voluntary. The Government will not pay for any information
that is submitted in response to this request. Interested small
businesses are encouraged to respond to this notice providing a summary
of their capabilities to meet the description above. Submit responses
to Jason Gerloff at GSA/PBS/Property Development, 230 South Dearborn
Street, Room 3512, Chicago, Illinois 60604, fax (312) 353-9186, or call
(312) 886-1542, no later than January 12, 2000. Posted 12/22/99
