The Maintenance and Logistics Command Pacific, Naval engineering Division intends to contract for the repair of USCGC POLAR SEA (WAGB 11). The work package will include: (1) repair of 1A Main Diesel Engine by replacing the existing engine block and crankshaft, and the repair or replacement of 1A engine sub-base, and (2) replacement of 3A Main Diesel Engine block with an upgrade to new style of non-cracking block. All equipment and materials involved in the above work shall be contractor-furnished, and are considered long lead time items. This solicitation will be issued pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. Solicitation will be issued on or about 12 January 2000 with a proposal closing date of 11 February 2000. Period of performance will commence 15 April 2000 and conclude 30 June 2000. This will be an unrestricted best value procurement. For Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises to acquire short-term working capital assistance for transportation-related contracts, loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending PRogram (STLP) at the prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing.
