Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract with Bio-Rad, Life Science Group, 2000 Alfred Nobel Drive, Hercules, CA 94547 for the acquisition of a Microscope System as follows: 1. Radiance 2000 K2 (515-0002/09) -- This system can be used in a conventional confocal (1-photon) imaging mode. Includes the following: A. Scanning Head: Computer controlled aperture size, highly reflective dielectric coated mirrors, patented pseudo infinity optical light path; B. Software includes Bio-Rad LaserSharpfi up to 8 channel of 12-Bit A/D Acquisition, 24-Bit Display, and 3D Volume Rendering Software; C. Laser -- 10mW Krypton/Argon ion laser emitting at 488 and 568 NM, with AOTF for simultaneous balancing of laser lines; D. Fiber Optic Laser Delivery, single mode, polarization preserving, achromatic fiber optic; E. Control and Acquisition System Control Unit and cables with pure digital signal processing, Scan control and date acquisition Firewire module for simultaneous collection and display of up to 8input signals, two enhanced-sensitivity PMT detectors, computer controlled gain, black level enhance settings and eight position emission filter wheel for each PMT, low noise integrating amplifiers, fast digital photon counting; F. Two days on-site training; G. Installation and 12 month warranty (parts and labor). Computer Requirements: This confocal instrument requires a Dell PowerEdge 2300 computer to be purchased and delivered to the installation site before it can be installed. Bio-Rad has extensively tested this model and certified it for use with this instrument and will provide a Quick Restore CD specifically configured for the Dell PowerEdge 2300 at the time of installation. No other model of computer can be substituted. 2. Microscope Adapter for Nikon Eclipse TE300 (515-0221/01). 3. Pentium II 450MHz Processor (515-0300/05), 128MB RAM< CD ROM< on-board network hardware, SCSI-2 interface and Windows NT 4.0 and FireWire data transfer card. 4. 21" Monitor (515-0302/02). 5. Z-Drive: Nikon Eclipse TE300 (515-0221/30), Z-Drive for Nikon Eclipse TE300. Trans Det Nikon Eclipse TE300 (515-0221/30), Transmission Detector for Nikon Eclipse TE300.
