A Licensing Agreement for Village Power Planning Modeling Software:
HOMER and ViPOR. Contact Peter Lilienthal 303/384-7444. Transfer of
National Laboratory technologies to the private sector is a mission of
the U.S. Department of Energy. In accordance with legislation allowing
the transfer of technologies, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory
(NREL) is seeking industrial partners for the licensing and
commercialization of this technology. On behalf of the U.S. Department
of Energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) anticipates
negotiating one or more license agreements with U.S. Companies
interested in commercializing a set of software optimization models for
planning and designing distributed and off-grid power systems using
combinations of renewable and conventional generation technologies. The
models have a user-friendly graphical interface and can compare
thousands of possible power system configurations per minute of
runtime. Comprehensive technical and economic results are presented in
a variety of graphical and tabular forms. Sensitivity analyses can be
automated. HOMER Express is a simplified version and HOMER Pro is the
full featured version of the power system design tool. HOMER Express
can be downloaded for free at
http://www.nrel.gov/international/tools/homer.html . ViPOR uses a
geographical interface to compare stand-alone energy systems to a
grid-connected system. These software tools have value to anyone
considering the use of renewable or distributed generation systems.
Respondents to these partnering opportunities should be fully
conversant with off-grid and distributed power systems, including rural
applications in developing countries. Selected respondents will be
asked to submit a marketing plan for the commercialization of this
technology. Interested companies should send a written response by
January 31, 2000 to Peter Lilienthal, National Renewable Energy
Laboratory, peter_lilienthal@nrel.gov, or phone at (303) 384-7444.
