This notice is being issued by the Westinghouse Savannah River Company (WSRC), management and operating contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy's Savannah River Site (SRS) near Aiken, South Carolina. The purpose of this notice is to determine public interest in the licensing or partnering in the further research and development of a technology entitled "Surface Plasmon Resonance Probe Sensor." This invention enables remote surface plasmon resonance (SPR) measurements in a stable, robust probe format. The WSRC SPR sensor probe is extremely sensitive to water vapor adsorption onto the probe surface. It has been applied to atmospheric moisture monitoring and has shown sub-ppm sensitivity over a range of ~0 to 100% RH (0 to >20,000ppm at 25 degrees C, 1 atm). Respondents will be provided with a technology brief and instructions for preparing and submitting a business plan, an integral element of the licensing process. A typical license agreement will contain license fees and running royalties. Partnering for further research and development will require a suitable technology development plan for conducting the necessary research and development. The plan must demonstrate that the partners have appropriate capabilities, experience, and infrastructure to successfully advance the surface plasmon resonance probe sensor.
