S -- - NOTICE OF INTENT TO NEGOTIATE A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract with the Maui High Performance Computing Center. Purpose of contract is to 1) upgrade parallelization of the Method Of Splitting Tsunami (MOST) model for improved efficiency by implementation of an SMP system with shared memory and/or implementation of improved parallelization coding; 2) develop Tsunami Forecasting Database for rapid, user-friendly access to archived MOST model simulations; 3) identify optimal data compression strategy for efficient storage of and access to MOST model simulations data files; 4) attend meetings in Seattle; and 5) present results at appropriate scientific meeting. The Maui High Performance Computing Center is the only source with access to the current version of the MOST model that has been parallelized, implemented, and tested on a super computer, and is the only source that can upgrade the current version in a timely manner. No other sources will be considered, requests for solicitation will not be honored. Notice being made to satisfy requirements of FAR Part 5 only.
