Stennis Space Center, MS intends on contracting for the removal and
installation of a new chiller and cooling tower. The project consists
of providing the labor, equipment, and materials to replace the chiller
and cooling tower serving Building 3203, Stennis Space Center, Hancock
County, Mississippi. Building 3203 is comprised of 54,102 square feet
of standard commercial grade office, laboratory, technical, and
industrial shop space. The equipment is currently housed on the roof
and in the first floor mechanical equipment room. This work includes
but is not limited to: (1) Full scale asbestos abatement; (2) Removal
of chiller, chilled water pump, condenser water pump, and associated
piping; removal of wall-mounted exhaust fan; removal of condenser water
chemical injection system controller; removal of abandoned
high-temperature hot water piping; removal of existing cooling tower
and associated piping from roof; and removal of all pneumatic tubing
and devices not utilized in new work; (3) Provide and install new 352
KW (100-ton) reciprocating chiller, cooling tower, chilled water pump,
condenser water pump, associated piping (including underground
piping), pads, and EMCS controls. (4) Provide and install new
refrigerant detection system including monitor, warning light, and
exhaust fan/duckwork. (5) Provide and install new automatic condenser
tube brush system for new chiller; (6) Installation of new intake air
louver; and (7) Seal pitch pockets on roof with tar. Discrete Option 1:
Remove existing abandoned high temperature hot water pump, hot water
converter, hot water expansion tank, cooling tower sump heater,
associated piping, and framing in the first floor mechanical equipment
room. Replace existing how water pump and associated piping. Discrete
Option 2: Install new decorative block wall on the new cooling tower
concrete foundation. Bids will be due 30 days after release of
solicitation. Estimated solicitation release date is January 20, 2000.
Work is to be completed within 180 days of contract award. This
project is 100% small business set-aside. Requests for the solicitation
