The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) through the Program Support Center, General Acquisitions Branch, intends to award a 5 month sole source Simplified Acquisition to The National Mental Health Awareness Foundation in Washington, D.C. Support shall be provided to develop a summary report to be used to develop and plan a well-defined national anti-stigma mental health conference. This shall involve convening two focus groups of mental health consumers to define the issues surrounding mental health stigma and develop recommendations for a anti-stigma national conference and identify barriers to accomplishing a conference. A report shall be provided on a review of research on stigma and results of that research, review of information from interviews of experts; review of findings on public awareness of mental health issues; summary of the focus groups' findings and recommendations. Also a review of activities that are being done on a local and national level to addressstigma including the media or other organizations. The anticipated award date is January 24, 2000.
