INMARSAT B systems. NOAA Pacific Marine Center requires two (2) each INMARSAT B systems. One will be installed on the NOAA Ship RAINIER and the second will be installed on the NOAA Ship JORDAN. Due to the late funding authorization, there is a relatively short time frame to obtain the units order to be installed during the current ship yard periods. It is desired they be delivered by 2/1/00 in Seattle, WA. The desired unit is the ABB NERA Saturn BM (or equal) with the high speed (64k) option. The Salient Features we require for the INMARSAT High Speed B units are: (1) The INMARSAT system shall have the capability of five separate phone lines each having a separate phone number. Each phone line shall have the capability of being activated as either voice or fax. (2) The system shall have the capability to run from 28Volt DC as well as 230V AC. The DC backup capability is needed if the AC power fails and emergency communications are required. (3) The control handset shall have an LCD display and entry keys to allow it to control all the functions of the terminal. (4) The High Speed Data hardware should be installed in the main Below deck Electronics and not a separate unit. (5) The system shall have the capability of being interfaced to 9600 baud or high speed input line without requiring a physical connection. Provide price on two (2) Data Com switches for NERA SATURN BM systems. Preference for award shall be given to those vendors offering units under Government contract in order to expedite ordering and delivery of the required INMARSAT B units. Provide AVAILABILITY (must meet 2/1/00 delivery), assuming award made on/around 1/19/00. This notice may be cancelled or response time shortened if Government determines lead time requires award before 1/19/00, or if units are available under Government contract.
