K -- MODIFICATION TO AH-1W VIBRATION ANALYSIS SUPPORT EQUIPMENT (VASE 8500C) The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst requires the modification of the 50 existing AH-1W Vibration Analysis Support Equipment (VASE 8500C) procured from Chadwick-Helmuth under contract number N68335-97-C-0061. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate the modification with Chadwick-Helmuth Co. Inc., 4601 N. Arden Drive, El Monte, CA 91731. Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, this firm is considered the only supplier of these modification services because they are the sole designer and manufacturer of the Vibration Analysis Support Equipment (VASE). The proposed modification to the existing Repair of Repairables BOA, N68335-98-G-0134, shall consist of upgrading the software on the 50 existing AH-1W VASE (8500C) and providing the required ancillary equipment so that the existing units will also be capable of operating on the UH-1N. Interested firms may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all responses received within fifteen days after the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
