The US Geological Survey has a requirement for the purchase of software that can offload sector format SCSI disk data from server storage on the EMC disk units directly to tape backup. The USGS anticipates awarding to Innovation Data Processing. Direct offload is required, Innovation Data Processing's FDR/SOS product was designed for this purpose. FDRSOS provides backup/restore of open systems volumes to S/390 tape (or disk) storage across high speed mainframe channels using direct disk access, not communication protocols. FDRSOS leverages the EMC Symmetrix 5000 ESP ICDA ability to provide MVS (OS/390) access to both S/390 (CKD-format DASD) and open systems (sector format SCSI disk) data across high performance mainframe ESCON channels. While networked-based products must contend with bandwidth limitations, FDRSOS is transferring data at megabytes per second vs. megabits. Operate in an OS/390 system environment with interfaces to FDR suite of products to consolidate tape information catalogs. Interface with EMC Symmetrix 5000 storage to backup and restore sector formatted SCSI disk data. This announcement is for informational purposes only, no formal RFQ will be available.
