combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in
accordance with the format in subpart 12.6, as supplemented with
additional information included in this notice. This announcement
constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a
written solicitation will not be issued. This is Request for Quote
N66604-00-Q-1559. This solicitation and incorporated provisions and
clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-14.
This acquisition is unrestricted. The Standard Industrial
Classification (SIC) is 3826 the size standard is 500 employees. The
Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport, Rhode Island
(NUWCDIVNPT) intends to purchase one (1) polarized light microscope.
The microscope must have the ability to (1) image samples under
polarized light; (2) heat samples during imaging (hot stage); and (3)
produce digital images/photographs of samples. The specific technical
requirements for the microscope are as follows: a.) binocular eyepieces
(10x), b.) heating stage for samples with thermocouple and measuring
sensor, c.) minimum of four (4) objective lenses (5, 10, 20, and 50x)
on a rotating turret, d.) built-in illumination source (100 watt light
preferred) and power supply for same. e.) ability to image easily in
transmitted and incident light, f.) rotating sample stage with sample
holder brackets, g.) polarizers with one (1) lambda and one-fourth
(1/4) lambda compensator slots; h.) PC based digital camera system
(including all necessary components: PC software, camera, etc) i.)
slot/port on microscope for digital camera; j.) transmitted light
condenser; k.) analyzer. Delivery shall be FOB destination to
NUWCDIVNPT, Newport, Rhode Island within five (5) weeks of order. The
provision at 52.212-1, Instructions to Offerors -- Commercial Items,
applies to this acquisition with applicable agenda. The solicitation
will close on February 1, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. local time. Inquires may be

52.212-4 Contract Terms and Conditions -- Commercial Items, applies
with applicable addenda. Clause 252.212-7001 of the Defense FAR
Supplement (DFARS), Contract Terms and Conditions Required to implement
Statutes or Executive Orders Applicable to Defense Acquisitions of
Commercial items (JAN 1997, applies with applicable addenda. The
Defense Priorities and Allocations system (DPARS) rating is DO-C9. Our
