MAINTAIN HEMOATOPIETIC, ERYTHROID AND NEOPLASTIC CELL FOR ONE YEAR SOL
NIH-NIDDK-00-531 DUE 021400 POC Desiree Kelly, Purchasing Agent,
301-594-7731 The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National
Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a
requirement to purchase the services of Cell Biologist (Flow
Cytometrist) to Culture and Maintain Hemoatopietic, Erythroid and
Neoplastic Cell for one year. The requirements for the person are as
follows: 1) High speed cell sorting using a coulter elite instrument.
The candidate should be highly familiar with the instrument and be able
to align lasers, repair minor hardware faults, and operate the software
for data generation, retrieval, and statistical analysis. The candidate
must possess expertise in high-speed sorting of human and other
mammalian hematopietic cells. The candidate must have expertise in
identifying erythroid cell and erythroid cell precursor populations
among mixed populations of primary and neoplastic cells. 2) Staining
and preparation of cells for flow cytometry. The candidate must possess
expertise in staining and preparation of cellular molecules for flow
cytometric detection. These include surface molecules, as well as,
nucleic acids and lipid moieties. The candidate must be skilled in
staining methods specifically applicable to erythroid cell subsets. 3)
Culturing of primary human erythroid cells and mammalian cell lines.
The candidate must be capable of media preparation and sterile
techniques involved in the culture of primary human hematopoietic cells
and neoplastic cells. Special expertise must include knowledge of
erythroid cell culture methods. The candidate must also be aware of
precautions used in the handling of samples infected with human
pathogens. 4) Cell transfection with genetic materials and assessment
of gene transfer efficiencies using flow cytometry. The candidate must
be familiar with an able to perform gene transfer experiments using
genes encoding green fluorescent protein. Expertise with
flow-cytometric assessment of gene transfer is required. 5) Reagent
storage and records. The candidate must be able to order and maintain
the reagents necessary for the above requirements. The candidate must
also be able to maintain the frozen laboratory cell stocks. The Period
of Performance is for 225 days over a one year period. The Standard
Industrial Classification is 9999. And the business size standard is

National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive Kidney Diseases to
purchase the required Cell Biologist specified in the Request for
Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-00-531 will be available fifteen (15) days
after the publication date of this synopsis. Receipt of quotations will
be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated
