The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) anticipates releasing a second full and open competitive solicitation for the lease/(bareboat charter) of the fleet salvage tug USNS NARRAGANSETT (T-ATF 167) to a U.S. company that can show that it will use the NARRAGANSETT to support offshore salvage facilities. The vessel will be leased on an "As Is, Where Is" basis with a proposed lease award date currently planned for March/April 2000. The 7200 H.P. NARRAGANSETT (Length 226 FT) is currently in classification with the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), is under continuous survey, and has a Certificate of Inspection (COI) issued by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). The successful lessee must acquire and maintain its own current and updated ABS class certifications, USCG certificate of inspection, and adequate insurance and demonstrate that it can adequately maintain and operate the vessel over a proposed five (5) year lease period. It is currently anticipated that potential lessees will have an opportunity during theweek of 07 February 2000 to visit and inspect the vessel at its current berthing location in Port Hueneme, CA. Final vessel inspection information including scheduling and availability to prospective offerors will be outlined in the upcoming solicitation planned for release on or near 31 January 2000.
