The USEPA intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis, under the authority of FAR 6.301, with Litton Industires, for the acquisition of one (1) KB Lathe Model 197 for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laborary (NVFEL), 2565 Plymouth Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan. The system shall consist of Firecarrige, Part No. 8985; Heat Shield, Part No. 9676; Universal Planitary Chuck for Head Stock, Model No. 9891; Universal Planitary Chuck for Tail Stock, Model No. 9891. All part numbers and descriptions are Litton Engineering Laboratories. This machine will be used primarily for end to end pipe and tube welding. The Lathe must be a standard production machine to insure the availability of parts and accessories should future need for additional capability develop.
