Research Center is seeking 3 -- 5 small disadvantaged and women-owned
small businesses (WOSBs) as well as Historically Black Colleges and
Universities (HBCU's) and Other Minority Institutions (these entities
are hereinafter collectively referred to as SDB's) to participate in
the NASA Aero-Space Technology Small Disadvantaged Business Quarterly
Forum. The forum will be conducted at NASA Ames Research Center,
Moffett Field, California on March 14, 2000. In partnership with the
NASA's Office of Aero-Space Technology and the Office of Small and
Disadvantaged Business Utilization, Ames Research Center hosts annual
Forums where certain high tech SDB's deliver technical presentations to
senior Ames managers and NASA prime contractors regarding their
technical capability related to Ames programs. NASA is seeking to
identify high-tech SDB's to participate in the upcoming Forum with
expertise in the areas described below. The forums are a means of
identifying high-tech SDB's capable of participating in Ames' most
complex programs as future contractors and subcontractors. Ames is
NASA's "Center of Excellence" for Information Systems technologies,
encompassing research in supercomputing, networking, numerical
computing software, artificial intelligence, and human factors to
enable bold advances in aerospace and space transportation. Ames has
the agency lead role in airspace operations systems, which includes air
traffic control and human factors, and the lead Center for rotorcraft
technology. Ames also has major responsibilities in the creation of
design and development process tools and in wind tunnel testing,
air-breathing propulsion concepts-, instrumentation systems-, and
flight loads predictions. The mission of Ames Space Directorate is to
advance the frontiers of knowledge, technology, and exploration in four
areas: Earth System Science; Life Sciences; Space Science; and Space
Technology. Within NASA, Ames is responsible for conducting the mission
of astrobiology, a broad area of multi-disciplinaryresearch devoted to
the exploration of life in the universe, the role of gravity in living
systems, and the study of the Earth's atmosphere and ecosystems. The
mission of the Ames Aerospace Directorate is to research, develop, and
transfer leading-edge aerospace and space transportation technologies
and services through the integration of computation, simulation,
experimentation, and information systems. The goal are to improve
aircraft safety and efficiency, minimize the environmental impact of
aviation, increase the competitiveness of the U.S. aviation industry,
improve space transportation system safety and reliability, and reduce
the cost of access to space. Respondents are invited to submit
capability statements and other information that provides evidence of
their technical expertise in areas that relate to the Ames mission. A
cover sheet shall contain the following information: Company name,
address, phone no., fax no.; type of business/entity (e.g., WOSB, HBCU,
etc.), name of point of contact (POC); POC's phone, fax nos., and email
address; alternate POC's phone, fax nos., and email address; brief
description of capability (up to 7 words), descriptive/listing of
capabilities (up to 35 words). Selection of participants is solely at
the discretion of Ames. No expenses for participation will be
reimbursed by the government. Previous Forum presenters at Ames and
firms having prime or subcontracts on-site at Ames within the last 3
years are not eligible for participation. Additional information is
provided at the following URL: http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/codek/
under the header, Special Programs, Quarterly Aerospace SDB Forum.
Notification of selected firms will be made by announcement posted at
the following URL on or after February 22:

small, and small disadvantaged) personnel are welcome to attend this
event. Reservations are required for badging purposes. Please contact
Thomas J. Kolis by phone at 650-604-4690 or fax him your intentto
