DUE 022400 POC Earl Sharp 410-278-3415 FAX 410-278-2077 The Research,
Development and Acquision Office, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, is
seeking to identify potential sources who can provide an adapter/
coupler that will couple military Night Vision Monocular (NVM) systems
(AN/PVS-14 or 983S) to day optical systems such as rifle scipes,
spotting scopes, binoculars and cameras. The NVM must be attached
through the adapter/ coupler to the day optics without any
modifications to the day optics. The adapter/coupler must allow for
attachment of the NVM to the day optical device in 1.5 seconds or less.
The adapter/coupler must provide for the removal from one day optical
system and installation to another in no more than 5 seconds (i.e. NVM
and adapter/coupler removed from a spotting scope and attached to a
rifle scope). The adapter/coupler may allow for front or rear mounting
of the NVM to the day optics. When mounted to a rifle scope, the NVM
when attached to the adapter/coupler will not change bullet impact from
day zero more than .5 Minute of Angle (MOA). Any modification to the
NVM required by the attachment of the adapter/coupler will result in no
more than a total weight increase of 30%. Additionally the NVM must
still perform as orginally designed (mount to helmet, head harness,
worn around the neck etc.) All maintenance and/or attachment of the
adapter/coupler must be performed with simple hand tools by a soldier
in the field (i.e. screwdriver, allen wrench etc.). The adapter/
coupler must withstand shock and recoil pressures generated by 5.56mm,
7.62mm, 300 Win Mag, 12 ga. 3 1/2 magnum shotgun, 50 cal. Match Rifles
or Browning Machine Gun M2 and the MK-19mm Gernade launcher weapon
systems. Posted 01/24/00 (W-SN418531). (0024) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0019 20000126\A-0019.SOL)
