Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Seeking Industrial Partner For
Solid State/Thin Film Sensors Project. Lawrence Livermore National
Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under
contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking an
industrial partner to participate in the Department of Energy's (DOE)
Initiatives for Proliferation Prevention (IPP) Program. The successful
candidate will participate in a project with LLNL and a research team
located in Russia. The Russian team identified for this particular
project has expertise in solid state, thin-film chemical sensor
technology, and has developed an ammonia probe/meter and a hydrogen
peroxide probe/meter. The scope and content of the project will be
defined by LLNL, the industrial partner and the Russian team. DOE may
contribute up to $1,000,000 to fund the project; the industrial partner
will be required to match the DOE funding with an in-kind (i.e.,
non-cash) contribution. The principal goal of IPP is to enhanceU.S.
national security through the engagement of scientists, engineers, and
technicians from Former Soviet Union weapons institutes. The chosen
industrial partner would participate in planning and executing
development with the ultimate goal of marketing products that emerge
from the development. Thus, LLNL prefers candidates who already have an
established business in the development, manufacturing and selling of
chemical sensors. A successful program would lead to commercial and
economic benefits for both the industrial partner, as well as the
Russian research team. Note: THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT. To ensure
consideration, interested parties must provide a written statement of
interest including a description of corporate capabilities relevant to
commercializing the technology. Written responses should be directed
