F -- WILD HORSE MAINTENANCE FACILITY -- PASTURE LANDS -- WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI SOL NAR000043 DUE 032400 POC Ms. Marty Coffey, (303) 236-9439 The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has a requirement for the placement of excess wild horses on private pasture lands, located west of the Mississippi River. The contractor may expect up to 400 horses to be delivered to its facility at the onset of the contract. This number may be increased to a maximum of 2000 head. Mares and mare-pairs are to be separated from geldings. This may be accomplished by awarding one or more contracts for mares and mare-pairs only; and awarding other contract(s) for geldings only. It is expected that these wild horses will be maintained in these pastures for the remainder of their lives. The contractor(s) shall be required to be knowledgeable and experienced with the behavior and nutritional requirements of equine, and, the management of land for the sustained production of grass and other desirable forage plants. Any contractor being considered for award must be able to prepare corrals/pens, working facilities, fencing, and other related structures required for the humanemaintenance of wild horses. Contractor(s) will be required to inventory resident wild horses on at regular basis and prepare inventory reports. Contractor(s) to provide all feed, supplemental feed (when needed), sufficient water, minerals, and salt in order to maintain the horses in good condition. The Contractor(s) shall be reimbursed on a per animal feed day. This requirement is 100% set-aside for small businesses. The solicitation will be issued on or about February 15, 2000.
