Steven.Case2@wpafb.af.mil, Steven.Case2@wpafb.af.mil. Background "This
is a request for information (RFI) only. The intent of this synopsis
is to survey the marketplace for potential sources regarding the area
of interest set forth herein. This synopsis does not constitute an
Invitation for Bids, Request for Proposals or Request for Quotes. The
Airborne Sensors and Data Links Division (ASC/RAJ) of the Aeronautical
Systems Center Reconnaissance System Program Office (ASC/RA), is
seeking information on media encryption technology. This can be defined
as encrypting storage media such as hard disks. A stand-alone device,
independent of the operating system is required. This survey is being
conducted to determine whether there are existing sources available to
meet mission requirements. Specific information requested includes: 1)
encryption approaches that are capable of meeting current airborne
media security requirements within four months of contract award; 2)
fundamental performance parameters such as, size, weight and power; 3)
approaches that could lead to a future optimized unit [less than 84
cu. in., 2.0 lbs., 15 watts] capable of being remotely keyed; 4)
samples of existing contracts, systems or components and/or statements
of work to realize systems like the one mentioned above in the
commercial or military market place. Respondents to this RFI should
identify whether they are a large or small business along with their
company's name, address, telephone number and a POC. Any proprietary
information submitted should be identified as such. Please provide the
requested information by the response date. Facsimile (937) 656-4309,
e-mail, or mailings are acceptable. The Government does not reimburse
respondents for any cost associated with submission of the information
being requested or reimburse expenses incurred to interested parties
for responses to this RFI. Mr. Stephen J. Plaisted, ASC/SYI, has been
appointed as Ombudsman to hear concerns from offerors, or potential
offerors, during the proposal development. The purpose of the Ombudsman
is to communicatecontractor concerns, issues, disagreements, and
recommendations to the appropriate government personnel. Existence of
an Ombudsman does not diminish the authority of the program director or
the contracting officer. Accordingly, the Ombudsman does not
participate in the preparation of solicitations, the evaluation of
proposals or the source selection process and, therefore, for routine
matters on individual solicitations, please contact the POC. When
requested the Ombudsman will maintain strict confidentiality as to the
source of the concern. Should you desire to contact the Ombudsman, Mr.
Plaisted can be reached at (937) 255-9095. This is a Request For
Information (RFI) only and all information received will be for
planning purposes only. At this time, the Government does not
anticipate the release of a solicitation; however, all responsible
sources may submit information which shall be considered by the
agency*****. " Posted 01/27/00 (D-SN419437). (0027) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0148 20000131\16-0015.SOL)
