is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial services,
non-personal, prepared in accordance with the format in FAR subpart
12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this
notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations
are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued.
Solicitation number 00SQ307540 is hereby issued as a Request for
Quotation (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions
and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular
97-15. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code is 7699 and
the small business size standard is $5.09 million. Simplified
Acquisition procedures will be used for this acquisition. This
acquisition is unrestricted. All responsible sources may submit a
quotation which will be considered by the Government. STATEMENT OF
WORK: Item 0001, 1 JOB, for the Montgomery KONE down escalator. The
contractor shall provide the necessary labor, materials, tools,
equipment,supplies, transportation, and supervision to perform the
following work on the Montgomery KONE down escalator, located at the
main entrance to the Hoover Dam Visitor's Center in Clark County,
Nevada. The contractor will disassemble the escalator and remove the
damaged chain and associated hardware. While the escalator is
disassembled, the contractor will clean the drip pan and pits, removing
any debris and/or oil that has accumulated. The contractor will provide
and install a new step chain, designed for a long service life and
quiet operation. The chain is to be a precision roller flat-link type,
manufactured from high quality material with heat treated bushings and
chain link pins. The replacement chain must be the correct type for
this Montgomery KONE down escalator. The Government cannot provide
service and operating manuals for the Montgomery KONE down escalator.
During installation, the contractor will ensure the escalator steps are
equally tensioned up and down the incline. The contractor will
lubricate the chain using the correct chain oil for the Montgomery KONE
escalator. The contractor shall inspect and adjust track and advise the
Contracting Officer of any components associated with track adjustments
that need to be repaired or replaced. The contractor will reassemble
the escalator after completing the chain installation and perform all
adjustments and performance testing necessary to ensure the escalator's
operation has been fully restored to a level that will meet all
inspection and code requirements for escalator use by the general
public. At the completion of work, the contractor shall be responsible
for removing and disposing of all parts and materials removed during
the chain installation, including waste oil removed from the pits and
pan. All removed materials shall be disposed of by the contractor in
accordance with all Federal, state, and local laws, rules, and
regulations. All required disposal documents shall be provided to the
Contracting Officer. All work is to be performed during the regular
working hours of the elevator/escalator trade (7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.,
Monday through Friday). The contractor shall provide a standard
commercial warranty for all materials supplied and work performed on
the Montgomery KONE down escalator. Item 0002, 1 JOB, for the two (2)
Montgomery Elevator Inc. traction elevators. The contractor shall
provide the necessary labor, materials, supplies, tools, equipment,
transportation, and supervision to perform the following work on both
the Montgomery Elevator Inc. traction elevators (E5 and E6) located at
the Hoover Dam Parking Structure in Clark County, Nevada. The
contractor will perform all work associated with the removal and
replacement of the oil seals and shims for each of the two elevators
described above. The work will be performed on one elevator at a time
to allow elevator service to remain uninterrupted for public use during
the normal business day. The contractor will provide and install
replacement oil seals and shims that are correct and compatible for the
two (2) Montgomery Elevator Inc. traction elevators. After installation
of the replacement parts the contractor will reassemble the elevators
and perform all necessary adjustments and performance testing required
to ensure the elevators operation has been fully restored to a level
that will meet all inspection and code requirements for use by the
general public. At the completion of the work, the contractor will be
responsible for removing and disposing of all parts and materials
removed during the installation, including any rags soaked with waste
oil or grease. All removed parts and materials shall be disposed of by
the contractor in accordance with all Federal, State, and local laws,
rules, and regulations. All required disposal documents shall be
provided to the Contracting Officer. The Government cannot provide
service and operating manuals for the two (2) Montgomery Elevator Inc.
traction elevators (E5 and E6). All work is to be performed during the
regular working hours of the elevator/escalator trade from 7 a.m. to
3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The contractor shall provide a

performed on the two (2) Montgomery Elevator Inc. traction elevators
(E5 and E6). The Montgomery Elevator Inc. traction elevators (E5 and
E6) at the Hoover Dam Parking Structure and the Montgomery KONE down
escalator at the main entrance to the Hoover Dam Visitor's Center have
been in operation since May 1995. All work for the two (2) Montgomery
traction elevators at the Hoover Dam Visitor's Center Parking
Structure and the one (1) Montgomery KONE down escalator at the main
entrance to the Hoover Dam Visitor's Center shall be completed prior to
March 6, 2000. All elevator and escalator maintenance, maintenance
alterations, repairs, tests, and inspections shall be in strict
compliance with the latest industry safety requirements for elevators
and escalators and all other applicable laws, ordinances, codes,
regulations, and rules for these premises. The contractor shallbe
licensed to perform elevator and escalator maintenance and repair work.
Award will be made to the RESPONSIBLE quoter submitting the LOWEST
responsive quotation. Quoters are strongly encouraged to visit the work
