COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 31,2000 PSA#2526STUDY FOR USING ALTERNATIVE METHODS FOR CONTAMINATED DREDGED MATERIALS
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, intends to solicit
and negotiate with the Natural Resources Institute (NRRI) of the
University of Minnesota under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. This
project is part of a previous study being conducted to evaluate the
potential for using alternative methods for handling contaminated
dredged materials from the Federal navigation channel which services
Duluth, Minnesota and Superior, Wisconsin. This project would involve
demonstrating the use of mineral processing equipment to treat
sediments in the Corps' Erie Pier Confined Disposal Facility according
to a plan previously developed by NRRI. This notice is not a request
for competitive proposals. All responses within 15 days of the
publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A
determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action
based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of
