DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savnnah District is conducting a market survey to identify sources and to increase competition acquisition opportunities for Small Businesses (under SBA procedures) in the SIC Code 1611 with specific expertise and success as prime contractor in heavy airfield pavement construction. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District seeks potential sources for construction at Pope AFB, NC of a new aircraft parking apron with a hydrant pit fueling system. The apron is approximately 2,000 feet by 650 feet paved in concrete with 50-feet wide asphalt shoulders for large cargo aircraft. Construction involves demolition of existing pavement, relocation of existing utilities(water, storm/sanitary sewer, UG electrical for airfield lighting) and a road, restructuring of drainage channel, and placement of new 16-inch concrete pavement including all new earthwork and drainage. Construction contract performance period is tentatively planned to begin in the last quarter of 2000. Interested Small Businesses qualifying in SIC Code 1611 may submit notice of interest no later 30 calendar days from publication of this announcement. Include with your response a list of projects completed within last five years involving new construction of heavy airfield pavements.
