and Other Communication Disorders, National Institutes of Health,
intends to negotiate a two-year contract with Georgia State University,
using other than full and open competition, to assess the functional
neuroanatomy of language-like communications, using Positron Emission
Tomography (PET), in the brains of language-trained bonobos (Pan
paniscus). The Language Research Center at the Georgia State University
is the only facility in the world that has bonobos that are
sufficiently language-trained. The project involves acclimating the
bonobos to the proposed test procedures before transporting the animals
