Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy is seeking industrial partners to commercialize and license a technology for seismic modeling. E3D is a 3-D finite-difference wave propagation code that incorporates a number of advanced computational and physics-based enhancements. These enhancements include full 3-D elastic modeling, as well as viscoelastic and topographic simulation capabilities. In addition, the code contains low-level optimization, propagating and variable density grids, hybridization and parallelization. E3D takes advantage of high performance computing and massively parallel processing to make 3-D full-physics simulations of seismic problems feasible. E3D is implemented on several high performance computing architectures, including massively parallel processors. E3D is currently being used in a number of scientific areas, including oil exploration, earthquake hazard research, regional and global seismic studies, hydroacoustics, underground structure detection, medical research, and optics. Licensees and collaborators are sought with technical and scientific expertise in the areas of seismic modeling on high performance computing systems. Successful industrial partners will have an established history and consistent record of research and development and experience and expertise in the area listed above.
