Westinghouse Savannah River Company (WSRC), Management and Operating
contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Savannah River
Site (SRS) located near Aiken, South Carolina, is seeking expressions
of interest from potential subcontractors for the engineering,
fabrication, and testing of an Off-Gas Exhauster (Blower) assembly.
This equipment will be used at Savannah River Site's (SRS) Defense
Waste Processing Facility (DWPF). The supplier shall furnish all
necessary activities for the design, manufacture, inspection, testing,
documentation, and delivery of highly reliable close tolerance,
off-gas exhauster to transfer process off-gas in the facility. The
off-gas exhauster must be rated for continuous service and will be
located in a totally enclosed very highly radioactive environment,
where normal access is not possible. The location of the exhauster
precludes maintenance access and as such, a very high degree of
reliability is required. The supplier shall provide a complete off-gas
exhauster(horizontal with split-casing) unit including base plate,
motor, wiring, and conduits for installation at the plant. The
exhauster assembly shall be furnished to conform to the dimensions and
configuration per a purchase specification and is to be directly
interchangeable with the existing exhauster assemblies and mounting
frame. The exhauster housing and components shall be fabricated from
stainless steel, type and grade suitable for the service and conditions
specified above. All materials shall be furnished with Certified
Material Test Reports (CMTR's) or Certificate of Conformance, as
applicable. All materials shall be identified and certified by ASTM
designation. The off-gas exhauster shall be rated at a normal flow rate
of 500SCFM @ 14.7 psia and 68 F (Min 200SCFM @-60" WC and Max. 500SCFM
@-90" WC). The suction and discharge of the exhauster will be 8
inches. The electric motor shall be 460VAC, 1200 rpm, 3 phase, 60 HZ,
TEFC, Counter Clockwise rotation, totally enclosed chemical type motor.
The supplier shall furnish a self-contained highly reliable lubrication
system for the bearings. The system shall be mounted in the vicinity of
the blower or blower skid and be suitable for the environmental
conditions as described above. All lubrication piping/tubing shall have
welded connections/fittings to the maximum extent. The anti-friction
bearings shall be rated with a minimum life of 80,000 hours with
continuous operation. The shaft/bearing seals shall be designed to
prevent leakage into/out of the exhauster and prevent the bearings from
coming in contact with the radioactive gas. The manufacture of the
off-gas exhauster must be done under strict quality control, which will
be reviewed by WSRC. The off-gas exhauster must successfully pass a
pressure test (hydrostatic tested without mechanical internals), NDE
and shop performance test (vibration test, etc.) before shipment. The
casing hydrostatic test pressure shall be a minimum of 1 1/2 times the
casing design pressure. A Firm-Fixed-Price Subcontract is
contemplated. The Expressions of Interest must be received by WSRC on
or before March 6, 2000. Reference tentative Solicitation Number
6A6545-LG on the envelope. An information copy of the expression of
interest may also be sent by facsimile to Westinghouse Savannah River
Company, Attention: Annette P. Midcalf, at (803) 952-6297. This is a
request for expressions of interest only; it is not a request for a
formal proposal. Posted 02/03/00 (W-SN421416). (0034) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0022 20000207\C-0004.SOL)
