AAO-IHS, RFP NO. 00-04/VZ. The Albuquerque Area Indian Health Service
(IHS), Division of Contracts and Grants Management will be soliciting
proposals from prospective offers for specialty health care services
that are not available or available on a limited basis within the IHS
health care system. Some of the specialty health care services are
cardiology, podiatry, general orthopedic, orthopedic surgery,
pedorthics, hemotalogy/oncology, neuro-surgery, pediatric cardiology,
orthothics and prothetics, dental, radiology, MRI, gestroentrology,
internal medicine, the list is not exclusive. The Contractor shall
provide services to Contract Health Service (CHS) eligible Native
American/Alaskan Natives on a referral basis. Patients will be referred
to the Contractor's facility as the requirements are identified. It is
the intent of the IHS to award multiple requirements type contracts to
those providers who will accept payment in full at the allowable
Medicare Rates. The IHS has a policy as announced in the Federal
Reqister June 1987, that it will do business with those medical health
care providers who will accept payment in full at the allowable
Medicare Rates. Contracts will be awarded for a base year with four,
one-year options for renewal. Contracts will be awarded as non-personal
service contracts. Contractor will be solely responsible for medical
malpractice coverage. Federal Torts Claims Act is not applicable for
this acquisition. Offer must have documented proof of medical license
and registered to practice medicine in the state where the medical
office or facility is located. Must be board certified or board
eligible in the specialty health care provided. The majority of IHS
patient population to be served are located in the Southwestern region;
Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas. The Request for Proposal

available on an open continuous basis from February 28, 2000 until
close of business on December 29, 2000. Awards will be made as
