The project consists of realigning Little Sand Bay Entrance Road and Shaft Street, constructing a new parking area, overlaying the Visitor Center Loop, and reconstructing Meyers Road. The work also includes roadway obliteration, roadway excavation, placing aggregate base and hot asphalt concrete pavement, drainage work, and other miscellaneous work. Principal items of work and approximate quantities are as follows: Roadway Obliteration: 9000 m2; Roadway Excavation: 9,600 m3; Aggregate base course, grading C or D: 13,550 metric tons; Hot Asphalt Concrete Pavement, class C: 7,900 metric tons; Pipe Culvert (various diameters): 220 m; and Furnishing and Placing Topsoil: 3,100 metric tons.
