The Coastal Systems Station, Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division is seeking sources for 25 each shipping containers used for the AN/SLQ-48(V) Mine Neutralization System (MNS) Vehicle. The container is a reusable box 66" wide by 64" high by 160" long weighing approximately 2520 pounds (2950 pounds maximum). It is a two piece assembly, that is the cover can be removed from the base to allow for loading/unloading of the contents. The cover is primarily made from wood with some steel for structural support; its interior has a cushioned form that fits over the MNS Vehicle. The base is primarily made from wood with some steel to allow the cover and base to be secured; the interior includes a similar cushioned form to support and cushion the MNS Vehicle. It is made from marine grade plywood, 2"x4" timbers, lagbolts, carriage bolts, cushioning material, steel plate and channel of varying thicknesses. Welding is required for some of the assembly as is screwing to secure the wooden items together. The final assembly is painted. Interested parties should contact Coastal Systems Station.
