COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 9,2000 PSA#2533IIT Research Institute, Reliability Analysis Center, 201 Mill Street,

973-724-3130, Kent Kogler, IIT Research Institute, 937-431-9322 In
support of its Area Denial Technology program, the US Army, Picatinny
Arsenal, is seeking sources of a low cost LADAR to sense moving
vehicles. We are interested in evaluating concepts and sources of
expertise dealing with the design, modeling, fabrication, and testing
of compact, low cost, near IR ladar sensors. We desire to detect and
discriminate between different types of moving vehicles from their
ladar signatures. In application, the ladar sensor would be at or near
ground level, stationary, and pre-emplaced to observe and sense moving
vehicles in the proximity of the sensor. Total or partially clear line
of sight will usually be available. The sensing range would be less
than 500 meters. Ability to classify and identify the vehicle based on
its physical shape and profile would be most desirable. The ladar
system should be compact, rugged, and battery powered with long life.
The ladar should be capable of performing in a wide variety of weather
conditions ( rain, snow, haze, fog, dust, etc.), but some degradation
with range and conditions may be acceptable. In addition to the
ability to detect discriminate vehicles, it would be of interest to the
Army if the same sensor were capable of detecting walking personnel.
Cost of the sensor/concept will be a primary factor in determining its
usefulness to the particular application under consideration.
Interested companies should submit information to demonstrate their
capability to perform the requirement described above. All data must be
submitted to both points of contact specified below. All responses will
be reviewed, however the contractor shall be responsible for any costs
associated with preparing responses. Information submitted in the
capability statement should include company name, address, telephone
number, point of contact, business size and general description of the
company and services provided. Interested parties should also include
a list of their most recent and relevant contracts for providing
similar services to include contract number, place of performance,
customer point of contact, telephone number, contract type, amount of
award and period of performance. POC at ARDEC, Picatinny Arsenal Paul
