The OIC of NAVFAC Contracts, Naval Weapons Station Earle, Colts Neck, NJ proposes to obtain the overhaul and repair of a Whiting 25/5-ton capacity overhead rail type crane. The necessary repairs to be procured include; replacing hoist block assemblies, brake shoes (main and auxillary travel trolleys), seals, bearings, sheaves, bushings, motor couplings, electrical contact relays, power switches and indicator lights, and complete servicing of all moving and stationary assemblies. The contractor shall provide engineering and technical services to modify hoist speed sequence controllers and install a new pendant control station. Also included in this procurement is the replacement of the wire rope (cable). All replacment parts shall be OEM and repairs shall be performed to OEM standards in accordance with the NAVFAC P-307. After repairs, the contractor shall test and inspect the crane per requirements of NAVFAC P-307. Upon completion of all work and testing, the Government shall be provided with a detailed written report of completed repairs, 4 copies of wiring diagrams, and a test report. This notice for sources sought is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested sources may identify their interest and submit a description of their capability to respond to or perform the requirement, and any other data, questions, suggestions or comments via e-mail to Mr. Adam Ginther at gintheraj@efdnorth.navfac.navy.mil. It is requested that responses be provided by 1 March 2000. Depending on the evaluation of responses received, and any other factors to be considered, a competitive solicitation may be issued. A determination by the Government as to whether or not to compete the above described requirement is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement.
