Tank-automotive Armaments Command (TACOM) is currently conducting a
market survey and analysis to identify if a Tachometer Assembly is
available that can be used on the M109A6 Paladin self-propelled
Howitzer System to improve the reliability from the current tachometer
assembly. The basic requirements for the PALADIN Tachometer Assembly
are based on MIL-T-71082 specification. The proposed tachometer
Assembly shall meet all the performance requirements specified in the
MIL-T-71082 specification. In addition, the proposed tachometer
assembly shall be interchangeable with the current Paladin Tachometer
Assembly without making modification to the Paladin. The proposed
tachometer assembly may be a mechanical or electrical device. Power
will be available at nominal unconditioned vehicle 28 volts DC power if
required. All proposed tachometer assembly shall meet the nuclear,
biological, and chemical (NBC) protection requirements in AR70-71 and
US Army NBC contamination survivability criteria. Theproposed device
shall also comply with Army Electromagnetic Interference (MIL-STD-461B,
Part 4, Class A3 shall be used as reference) and lighting strike IAW
MICOM-TR-RT-81-5 requirements. Detail of technical requirements and

SURVEY. Information obtained is for planning purposes only. It does
