The U.S. Army Soldier and Biological Chemical Command (SBCCOM) anticipates holding a Level III, Advanced Planning Briefing for Industry for all interested parties regarding the Joint Biological Point Detection System (JBPDS) Production effort. The APBI is scheduled for 24 Feb 2000 in the Main Conference Center located on the Edgewood Area of the Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG-EA). This APBI replaces the Industry Day, which was scheduled for 25 January 2000 and cancelled due to bad weather. The briefing is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am and last until 4:00 pm. Interested parties are requested to indicate attendance to Mr. George Hunt, Contract Specialist who may be reached at (410) 436-7128 (fax) or george.hunt@sbccom.apgea.army.mil (e-mail). No telephone responses will be accepted. The Joint Biological Point Detection System (JBPDS) is intended to rapidly and automatically determine the presence or absence of airborne Biological Warfare (BW) agents and to identify the agent at the point where the system is deployed. The functions of the JBPDS include monitoring the air for aerosol clouds of possible origin, sample collection and concentration, determine if the aerosol collected is biological in nature, and identify the specific agent of biological origin, if present. Presently, funding has been authorized, but not released for this effort. Questions regarding the JBPDS may be faxed or e-mailed to the Contract Specialist.
