R -- ON-SITE SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETATION SERVICES IN SUPPORT OF GAO'S DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING EMPLOYEES SOL OAM-2000-N-0014 POC LaVonne Walker, Contract Specialist (202) 512-5102 The U.S. General Accounting Office seeks to obtain sign language interpreting services for its deaf and hard of hearing employees located within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. These services are required to provide daily on-site sign language interpretation for GAO employees, ranging from communicating work assignments to communicating the subject matter of a technical conference or GAO testimony to Congress. In addition to the sign language interpreting services provided by the on-site interpreter, the contractor will provide interpreting services for meetings and training activities requiring more than two hours of continuous interpreting. The on-site interpreter should be certified by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or be proficient in interpreting vocabulary and concepts associated with financial management, accounting, auditing, and electronic data processing (EDP). GAO anticipates award of a Fixed Rate contract for a Base Period beginning in Fiscal Year 2001 (date of award) plus four option periods (Fiscal Years 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005).
