Munitions Armament Center (MAC) is conducting a market survey of
industry to identify potential sources that may be interested in
designing and manufacturing the M6 Blasting Cap. The M6 blasting cap is
an explosive device used to initiate high explosives with a blasting
machine or other suitable source of electric power. The technical
requirements for this item are defined by performance specification PRF
140030. A respondent to this survey is not required to develop an M6
design package at this time. A respondent to this survey should be able
to show that they have adequate technical and manufacturing capability
in the explosives industry, in addition to good past performance, that
would qualify them as a competitor for this item. A respondent to this
market survey must have available facilities, personnel, and the
production capacity to be able to design andmanufacture the subject
item. If a respondent does not have adequate resources (technical,
manufacturing, personnel, etc) available, the respondent must be able
to demonstrate his ability to obtain those resources in a timely
fashion. If a respondent chooses to utilize the services of sub-tier
vendors or subcontractors, those vendors or subcontractors must also
meet this criteria. A follow-up questionnaire and/or an on-site visit
may be required from survey respondents. Interested companies who feel
they have the necessary manufacturing capabilities should respond by
providing the government a brief summary of the company's capabilities,
including a description of facilities, personnel, and past
manufacturing experience as it relates to the above criteria.
