NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for two (2) Wyle WAS 3000 Airstream Modulators, including internal MU-110 modulation unit. Delivers 30,000 W max acoustical power with continous air flow rate of 3,000 scfm @ 28 psig. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from Wyle Laboratories, the only known responsible source. The acoustic power capability and mechanical/electrical impedance of additional sources must match the existing Wyle system due to acoustic source combination efficiency issues and control parameter limitations and the Wyle WAS 3000 is only source that will suffice for this application. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on February 18, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
