On or about 24 February 2000, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of Guard Rail Projects, Oahe Dam, SD. Bids will be opened on or about 28 March 2000. This solicitation is restricted to small business participation. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) The work for this project consists of replacement and reconstruction of bridge beam guard rail and approach guard rail for 3 bridges including the Outlet Works Bridge, Spillway Bridge, and Indian Creek Bridge. The Outlet Works Bridge shall have 200 LF of new approach guard rail and 1220 LF of new bridge guard rail, the Spillway Bridge shall have 280 LF ofnew approach guard rail and 1100 LF of new bridge guard rail, and the Indian Creek Bridge shall have 200 LF of new approach guard rail and 350 LF of new bridge guard rail. Also included in this project is the removal of existing surfacing and re-paving with 2 inches of bituminous course of the south shoulder on the Crest to Toe Road as well as the removal of 5178 LF of existing asphalt curb and replacement with new concrete curb and gutter. 5450 LF of beam guard rail shall be installed at various locations on both the north and south sides of the crest to Toe Road. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $250,000 and $500,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 180 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number of Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications will not be provided in a printed hard copy format.
